At the end of the course the students will have acquired advanced competences with regard to the historical linguistics of the Dutch language, and to the syntax and literary stylistics of the language. They will be able to interact in complex linguistic situations, to present their point of view and knowledge in Dutch, and to comprehend, translate and back-translate literary texts and audio material thanks to the practice lessons and the language training. Written scientific mini-essays, based on autonomous research and bibliography, under guidance of the professor, will be elicited on subjects chosen by the students in the context of the course. The items in the study programme will be discussed and analyzed in order to give students the basis for their autonomous study

Learning the main features of history and structure of Croatian and Serbian. Developing the four basic language skills (intermediate level). Improvement of the linguistic, stylistic and cultural knowledge through translation from Croatian and Serbian into Italian. Comprehension and proper use of the basic technical terminology of translation; knowledge of the main elements of the history of translation and of theoretical reflection on translation; knowledge and proper use of the main kinds of dictionary
