Educational objectives The course introduces students to the major critical approaches and to the key thinkers and theorists of contemporary modernity. It presents literary criticism as a dynamic field of critical thought that is driven by literature, especially in its relation with a variety of forms of expression, including visuality and other media. Students will be given the necessary tools to approach textual and aesthetic production in an informed manner, and will be encouraged to think about the critical act, its meaningfulness, its scope, and its ethics.

Educational objectives Improvement in theoretical-metalinguistic knowledge and in linguistic skills, including areas such as applied linguistics, speech analysis, translation studies, history of language, stylistics, intercultural studies.
Improvement of written and oral English language skills aimed at reaching the C1 level.

Educational objectives A) Students will know the scientific literature on the topics dealt with and will be able to comment on it critically;
B) they will be able to formulate linguistic hypotheses on the basis of the acquired analytical concepts and tools;
C) they will be able to integrate their new knowledge with the previous ones in order to face the theoretical and practical complexity of acquired concepts;
D) they also will manage to communicate knowledge entering in discussion with specialists of linguistic studies and non-specialists.
E) They will lastly be able to study self-managed or autonomous topics proposed during the course and will be encouraged to cultivate their own scientific interests independently.

Educational objectives To read a literary text of the Italian humanistic and Renaissance tradition in its historical and cultural context and understand its position in that tradition both as a new interpretation of it and in its impact on the development of it. To learn how to place the texts in the European framework, and understanding of relationships with the English tradition.
