Part VII – Research Activities

Keywords Brief Description
Mood Disorders My research activity is mainly focused on the investigation of the factors that underlie the development of psychiatric pathologies (e.g. mood disorders, substance use disorders), with a specific and strong interest in the identification of neurobiological alterations caused by exposure to traumatic events in childhood/adolescence and associated with the increased susceptibility to the development of these diseases. My research activity is carried out both in clinical settings, thanks also to the support of the analysis of bio-markers of pathology in the blood, and in preclinical rodent contexts. In general, my investigation aims to understand the triggering factors of the different psychopathologies in order to identify new psychological therapeutic pathways and their best temporal mode of administration.
My main/current line of research are the following: 1) Analysis of biomarkers of therapeutic success in the context of Major Depression Disorder and Substance Use Disorder and behavioral addictions 2) Evaluation of relational and cognitive-emotional regulation processes in patients suffering from neurological pathologies of different nature. 3) Short and long-term emotional, behavioral, and physiological reactions to child stressful/traumatic events. 4) Psychoneurobiological alterations induced by exposure to stressful conditions in preclinical and clinical contexts associated with altered/pathological behaviors.
